Glicée print from original Collage and Ink (1936).
A bible black fishing boat chugs through choppy waters; a flank of black harbour wall and then the white of the cliffs, adorned by the colour of the houses. the lighthouse and the seaside beach huts. And the huge Downs ascend as back-drop. All of this is a perfect rendering of the Sussex harbour – its purpose as fishing port, and its place at the foot of the Downs.
