Thanksgiving table styling and hosting tips

Although mainly celebrated in the US and Canada, Thanksgiving is such a beautiful holiday that I for one, would love for it to be celebrated across the world.

Thanksgiving gives us a perfect excuse to stop and be grateful for what we have, and more importantly to be thankful for the people that we can share things with.  It also gives us the perfect excuse to style our home, enjoy amazing seasonal food over a beautifully laid table.

Plan the menu

Although it is very tempting to indulge in every part of the menu, it is very important that your guests are not full by the time they finish their hors d’oeuvres.  Try to keep a balance and know which dish you want to be the star of the meal.

I personally like serving simple nibbles with drinks, so we are still hungry and ready to sit down for a main meal, and be able to offer one or two dessert options.

Serve dishes that look beautiful at the centre of the table

There is no better way to surprise your guests than with a table setting of a delicious big meal on the centre of the table and with side dishes ready to be shared.

Thanksgiving is a time to sit with your closest friends and family, to be relaxed and at ease.  I prefer offering dishes that have been previously sliced (if you are going for a traditional big turkey), or that can be easily served without any fuzz.

Style your table

Since the main meal is at the centre of the table, there is no need for endless layers of decoration. Personally I love choosing my favourite tablecloth and matching napkins, and perhaps adding some candles or small vases with seasonal greenery and small flowers.
