Meet Betsy: A Floral Design with a Way of Charming You

I’d love you to meet Betsy, my newest fabric and wallpaper design.
Betsy has actually been at home for a while. Some of the little details began with Coco, and over time they found their way into something new — a floral trellis of hand-drawn flowers, leafy green garlands and a wonderfully simple symmetry.
From the beginning, there was something about Betsy that kept charming me. She has a nod to traditional design, but the flowers are drawn with a loose, expressive hand. The result feels familiar without feeling nostalgic, and decorative without being overwhelming.
A floral to live with
I think that is what I love most about Betsy. She seems to find her place wherever she goes.
The scale is neither large nor small, making it wonderfully versatile. You can use Betsy to create something completely new — perhaps curtains, a pair of blinds or an upholstered piece — or introduce her into a room filled with things you already love.
She is particularly easy to layer with other fabrics, colours, textures and styles. The soft, warm palette brings colour without demanding all the attention, while the leafy green garlands give the pattern a gentle rhythm and structure.
There is enough character to make Betsy feel special, but enough simplicity to let her live comfortably alongside everything else.
Perhaps that is why she has felt so at home from the beginning.
A little garden to wander through
When I was photographing Betsy, I placed a postcard of Three Love Stories by painter Ramiro Fernandez Saus alongside the fabric.
The painting is set in a wonderfully playful garden, with paths winding through it and little characters appearing along the way. It is beautiful, joyful and full of movement.
Looking at it beside Betsy, I was reminded of the trellis in the design. Perhaps it isn't really a maze at all, but a garden with paths where you can wander freely, noticing things as you go.
I like that idea.
There are little flowers and leaves to discover in Betsy too. The symmetry gives you a sense of order, but the hand-drawn details stop the design from feeling too formal. There is room for the eye to wander.
Betsy on Ivory and Betsy on Beige
Betsy is available in two colourways: Betsy on Ivory and Betsy on Beige.
The ivory ground feels light and gentle, allowing the warm pinks, coral and orange flowers to stand out against the leafy greens.
On beige, the same colours take on a warmer, more settled quality. It feels slightly deeper and more enveloping, while retaining the simplicity that makes Betsy so easy to use.
Both colourways are designed to work across a variety of interiors, from more traditional spaces to relaxed contemporary rooms.
Printed in England on linen and wallpaper
Betsy is available as both fabric and wallpaper, printed to order in England.
The fabric is printed on a soft 100% linen with a beautiful natural drape. It is a lighter linen than our regular base cloth, making it particularly lovely for curtains, blinds, cushions and soft furnishings, while still being suitable for occasional upholstery.
If a project requires a heavier linen for upholstery, we can arrange this too. Simply get in touch, or speak to your trusted upholsterer or interior designer about the requirements of your project.
The wallpaper is printed to order in England at 52cm wide, bringing the gentle rhythm of Betsy's garlands and flowers across the wall.
A design that feels at home
Perhaps the best way I can describe Betsy is that she feels at home.
She doesn't need a room to be completely redesigned around her. She can become part of what is already there — bringing a little colour, pattern and charm to the things you already love.
And equally, if you're starting something new, she has enough personality to become the starting point.
