One major prediction is that designers anticipate people want to create more personalised interiors, and even have fun with their spaces, specially now that we are spending more and more time in our homes. In other words, now is the time to create a space that makes you and your family smile. Carry on reading to learn what are great designer are forecasting and how you can achieve it.
Natural materials are here to stay. Think mixing wood, stone, plants, linen. This makes sense to me, we want to be surrounded by nature, by living things. Natural materials and their textures help us remember that there is a beautiful world outside our homes too.
Personality-driven design. According to Veranda magazine, New York City-based designer David Frazier says that says that many of his clients are shifting away from neutral, Pinterest-perfect rooms and opting instead for cosier spaces that feature personal collections, layered textiles, unique art, and a mix of old and new furnishings. Let’s go for places full of character and warmth. That is certainly a trend that I can follow! Our suggestion is to add touches around your home that reminds you of your travels or eras.
Sustainable design. There seems to be a consensus that 2023 will be the year for sustainable design. We are becoming more and more mindful of choosing environmental friendly options, we want to know where and how is things are made. We want furniture and objects that will stand the test of time and won’t end up in a landfill after a few uses.
How are we achieving this? We are opting for rattan furniture that is sustainable, and from other materials like linen that are stronger than other fibres and it fosters local production and has a low environmental impact.
The return of dining rooms. Whilst open floor plans are still en vogue, there is no need to compromise other areas for a formal dining room; many families are finding creative ways to create nooks and cozy corners or a dedicated and intimate place to gather together.
Warm and inviting kitchens. Long gone is the cold industrial look, or the glossy kitchen that will create fingerprints by looking at it. Kitchens are and will be modern and practical but inviting and more personal places.
